Applied Clowning: Nursing Home

In this workshop we will dive, as clowns, into the life of elderly people living in nursing homes, with different levels of dementia. We will learn how we can help their care-takers and contribute to their lives as clowns by practicing simulations of live interactions and behaviors.

This workshop includes:
AN ONLINE LECTURE, 19 November 2025:
The workshop opens with a theoretical introduction into the clinical and care aspects of dementia and life in nursing homes.
- Online Lecturer: Dorthe Lehbert
NURSING HOME VISIT, 21. November 2025:
A guided visit to Vestervang Nursing Home. NB: The excate time span still TBC
- The Nursing Home visit will be led by Dorthe Lehbert and Tanja Mercher.
TRAINING & SIMULATION WEEKEND, 22-23 November 2025:
The workshop concludes with a practical training weekend at Move'n Act.
- The weekend will be led by Tanja Mercher and Ofer Ravid (Incl. 1 hr. lunch break pr. teaching day

This workshop is open to participants with previous experience or clown training.

Dorthe Lehbert:
Dorthe has a background as a social- og sundhedshjælper and social- og sundhedsassistent at Community Care Centers and Specialized Centers for citizens with dementia, followed by a project coordinator role - advising and supporting citizens with dementia and their close relatives. At present she holds a position as VISO-Specialist at Den Nationale Videns- og Specialrådgivningsorganisation.

Tanja Mercher:
Tanja holds a BA in Dramaturgy and a MA in Aesthetics and Culture. She is the initiator and co-founder of De Danske Omsorgsklovne, and has been a care and nursing home clown since 2015. She has also co-created large projects that have contributed with significant knowledge about clowns and clowning for, among others, people with dementia.

Ofer Ravid:
Ofer has taught clown, acting, and physical theatre internationally for over 20 years. He is the founding director of Red Nose Academy, a founding member of Ludico Theatre and has done extensive research into clown training and humanitarian clowning.
